Choosing SS 202
Discuss SS 202 for suitable dry, indoor and general applications with the equipment designer. Where moisture, coastal exposure or chemicals are involved, compare the corrosion requirements carefully with SS 304 and SS 316 before choosing the lower-cost option.
A grade label does not establish tensile strength, a coating specification or fitness for a safety-critical joint. Do not substitute SS 202 for 304 or 316 on a drawing without the responsible engineer approving the change.
Specification and documentation
